Agricultural Innovation contest highlights the innovative spirit of Ghana's youth in the agriculture sector
The winners of the 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro have been announced, and several teams, including Mushplus Agri-Foods, PEANUT PRIDE, SOYKO AGRO FOODS, and others, will receive seed funding, mentorship, and entry into KIC's Business Incubation program.
The event, hosted by the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) and Mastercard Foundation, aimed to reshape Ghana's agricultural sector and create jobs. A total of 43 teams participated, showcasing bold ideas for Ghana's agricultural sector, ranging from tech-based farming tools to eco-friendly food innovations.
The winners will utilize the Kosmos Innovation Center’s resources and mentorship to improve the technical and commercial viability of their agritech innovations. This support includes expert coaching, networking opportunities, and collaboration with agriculture stakeholders to advance their solutions from prototypes or pilot phases to broader commercialization and adoption.
The winning teams will receive various amounts of seed funding, with Zenags Organics, Mushplus Agri-Foods, MelDak Agro, AgriEase, Fibrelux, Tomavi Wines, Congam Stainless Charcoal, Danny Machinery, EcoLeap, BioSpace Gh, and Earth-Allies receiving $10,000 each. The team Ecobroma received $20,000, and the winning team PureLube received $25,000. In addition, Peanut Pride, Millbles, BIAQ Golden Cycle, Soyko Agro Foods, GardPath Technologies, Peli Natural Glow, MilkyWorld, Growth Line Farm-Tech, and Premium Biofert each received $5,000.
Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of KIC, stated that this year's Challenge Pro showcased the brilliance and resilience of Ghana's youth. He also reaffirmed the transformative power of agriculture and technology, stating that the innovations presented at the event highlight how youth-led innovation in agritech can drive economic growth and sustainability.
The event took place at KNUST Business School from May 22-23. Agriculture is a key pillar of Ghana's economy, and the event's success is expected to have a significant impact on the sector's future. With the support of KIC, the winning teams will refine their solutions and scale up their businesses, making a positive impact on Ghana's agricultural sector and creating jobs.
