Alexandria's Oktoberfest Returns This Saturday with German Culture and Fun

Alexandria's annual Oktoberfest celebration returns this Saturday, September 27, 2025, promising a day filled with German culture, music, and merriment at John Carlyle Square. The free event, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is set to draw families and community members of all ages, rain or shine.

The city has planned a vibrant celebration capturing 'the unmistakable spirit of Bavarian merriment'. Expect live German music, traditional dance performances, and a bustling beer garden. Savor authentic German cuisine, browse arts and crafts, and participate in festive contests. To accommodate the event, the Alexandria Police Department will close a section of John Carlyle Street from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 8 p.m. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes.

The closed stretch, from Duke Street to Ballenger Avenue, will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for attendees. Parking is available in nearby garages.
