Almaty's Ambitious Dormitory Project: 30 New Buildings by 2022
Deputy Mayor Yerzhan Babakumarov recently chaired an online meeting with university rectors in Almaty. The gathering focused on the city's ambitious dormitory construction project, aiming to enhance student living conditions.
So far, Almaty has inaugurated 6 dormitories with 2 more nearing completion, slated for early 2022. These projects are funded by investors who will see a regulated return within 8 years of the buildings' commissioning, even accounting for pandemic and economic challenges.
The city plans to construct 30 more dormitories, with land plots for 22 of these already secured. Upon completion, the project will provide over 16,000 beds for students. The meeting centred around the 'Five Social Initiatives of Elbasy', with representatives from major universities and relevant departments in attendance. The investors for the 2022 dormitories remain unnamed.
Deputy Mayor Babakumarov directed officials to hasten the construction process, adhering to the 'Listening State' concept. The project's success will significantly improve student living conditions in Almaty.
