Annual Event at Your Institution's Campus: HR Summit 2019

Our institution recently hosted an HR Summit with the theme "Bridging the Gap between the expectations of employers and the aspirations of the youth." The event, a wonderful learning opportunity for all present, aimed to discuss factors and solutions for a growing mismatch between employers and young professionals.

The first day of the summit kicked off with 11 panels, featuring Industry Experts, Faculty, Alumni, and current students. The panels provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and facilitated dialogues on concrete steps to bridge the employment gap.

Among the esteemed panelists were Leonora Beifuss (Head of IT Process & Project Management, Co-Founder @ hoorai), Christina Lange (Domain Owner Agile, METRO.digital), and Saskia Dupré (Lead Product Manager GenAI at OTTO), who are experienced in IT, agile management, and AI innovation. Additionally, the summit included experts such as Reinhard Backhausen (circular economy expert), MEP Mag. Dr. Othmar Karas (Vice President of the European Parliament), and key figures from the Austrian business and academic sectors, who participated in related strategic and thematic events.

The summit was a great initiative taken by the institution, appreciated by the industry professionals who attended. The panelists felt the event was a wonderful opportunity they didn't get when they were starting out on their professional careers.

Ms. Shradha Garg, Vice President of Raj Overseas, stated that a candidate's willingness to learn, adaptability, and team alignment are important skills for employers. Ms. Leena Singh, Founder of Brand Ashima Leena, advised that understanding all aspects of an organization is crucial for enriching knowledge.

Ms. Rupila Tondon, HR of FabIndia, emphasized the importance of knowing Indian crafts and textile techniques for the rural fashion industry. Mr. Rohit Krishan Gulati encouraged students to take every opportunity coming their way, stating that the 'zero' in starting a project is more important than the '100'. According to Ms. Tondon, understanding the entire process, from genesis to production, is vital for comprehending the finished product.

The objective of the summit was to boost student morale, reduce inhibitions about the hiring process, and job interviews. The event was successful in achieving this goal, as students left the summit feeling more confident and equipped to tackle the challenges of the job market.

The institution looks forward to continuing this practice in the years to come, providing students with valuable insights and opportunities to network with industry professionals. The first HR Summit organized at the institution's campus was indeed a wonderful learning experience for all.
