Astana's Innovative School Cabinets Support Children with Special Needs

Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, has launched an innovative project to create specialized cabinets in schools, supporting children with special educational needs. This initiative, backed by the Samruk-Kazyna Trust Foundation, aims to provide equal opportunities for these children and help them prepare for the job market. The project has seen success with 21 cabinets established, benefiting over 1000 children.

The cabinets, now present in schools No23, 29, and 60 in Astana, combine traditional educational methods with corrective lessons, making learning accessible and comfortable for the children. They offer a range of facilities including rooms for speech therapists, special educators, and psychologists, a pottery workshop, and a space for therapeutic physical exercises. This holistic approach helps children develop necessary skills and socialize with peers in a school environment.

The project is also adapting to early professional specializations based on the abilities of the children. This forward-thinking approach will help them prepare for the job market and fully realize their potential. Organizations like UNICEF, national disabled persons' organizations, international development agencies, and even the Kazakh government could potentially support such projects, although specific information on organizations actively promoting these zones in Astana is not always easily accessible.

With 21 cabinets now operational and benefiting 1054 children, the specialized zones project in Astana is making a significant impact. By providing inclusive learning environments and preparing children for professional life, the project is opening doors to a brighter future for children with special educational needs in the city.
