New Design Students Kick Off Their Journey at ZLB, TU Chemnitz

The Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLB) at TU Chemnitz recently welcomed a fresh batch of design students with an exciting Orientation Week. The event, spanning over 5 days, was designed to help students open up, meet their peers and Faculty, and familiarize themselves with the campus.

On the first day of the Foundation program, students participated in ice-breaker activities. These activities helped them to get to know each other better and set the tone for a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.

The second day was all about self-expression. Students were tasked with translating a "Self Portrait" as a design for a T-shirt. This activity allowed them to express their individuality and creativity, setting the foundation for their design journey.

The third day of the Orientation Week featured group skits using exciting props. The skits, which entertained the audience greatly, provided an opportunity for students to work together and showcase their talents.

The "Know Your Peers" activity, held on the fourth day, helped new students familiarize themselves with their peers' interests and passions. This activity laid the foundation of a solid friendship among the new students that they will foster over the next 4 years of their design journey at the institution.

Dr. Jitin Chadha, the Founder Director of the institution, was happy to observe that the new batch had an enjoyable ice-breaking experience during the Orientation Week. He encouraged the students to make mistakes and stated that at the institution, they will be enabled to work on those mistakes and master them. He expressed that every day, there will be a new challenge that will make the students push through the limit of their thinking.

The Orientation Week culminated on the last day with the new batch being given the task of organizing a Food Fest at the institution's campus. The Food Fiesta turned out to be a spectacular show and nothing less than a gastronomic treat! The Food Fest ended on a high note, with students feeling pepped up and ready to start their design journey with the institution.

A variety of activities were planned during the Orientation Week to ensure that students had a well-rounded experience. These activities were not just about learning but also about introspection and identifying passions. Focusing on the self is considered essential for every design aspirant.

The Orientation Week at ZLB, TU Chemnitz, marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the new batch of design students. They are now equipped with the tools to express themselves, collaborate, and push their boundaries, ready to make their mark in the design world.
