Connectivity Provided by Telecom Namibia Empowers Global Youth Discussion and Artificial Intelligence Education Pilot
In August 2025, Telecom Namibia played a significant role in supporting the Global Youth Dialogue and AI-driven learning initiatives in Namibia.
Global Youth Dialogue
During the Global Youth Dialogue, held from 4 to 8 August 2025 at the Windhoek Country Club, Telecom Namibia supplied a dedicated 100 Mbps internet connection. This ensured live streaming, digital coverage, and seamless real-time interaction among youth representatives from all 56 Commonwealth countries, as well as media and virtual participants. The connectivity support facilitated policy discussions and development initiatives addressing global youth challenges.
YYeni AI Luderitz Pilot
Regarding AI-driven learning, Telecom Namibia supported the pilot project YYeni AI Lüderitz, launched in July 2025 at Lüderitz Secondary School. The project integrates AI-based tutoring with traditional teaching methods in public education. Telecom Namibia’s role was to provide internet connectivity, enabling the AI platform's operation during the five-month pilot aimed at expanding to 25 schools and 500 students. The company frames this involvement as part of its broader commitment to reducing inequalities, fostering innovation, and building a knowledge-driven society in Namibia.
Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, CEO of Telecom Namibia, stated that the company is proud to contribute to initiatives that empower young people and advance digital innovation. The ultimate aim of the YYeni AI Luderitz Pilot is to expand the model to 25 schools and 2,500 learners by 2026.
Bridging the Digital Divide
The event and the pilot project are part of Telecom Namibia's ongoing commitment to national development, youth empowerment, and digital transformation. By providing high-speed internet connectivity, Telecom Namibia is helping bridge the digital divide and empower young people across Namibia and the Commonwealth.
The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture hosted the Global Youth Dialogue, with the aim of addressing shared global challenges.
