Crypto Scams Surge: Lake Constance Victims Lose €1.3M

Police in the Lake Constance District are warning residents of a surge in investment fraud cases, with victims losing substantial amounts. The latest incidents involve a 57-year-old and a 60-year-old who fell for cryptocurrency scams, losing a combined total of over 1.3 million euros.

Detectives advise caution with promises of high returns, especially involving cryptocurrency trading. Scammers often gain trust by initially paying out small profits. The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority recommends checking the seriousness of trading platforms using their enterprise database.

In Friedrichshafen, police are investigating a package deliverer suspected of stealing package contents. Meanwhile, a drunk man caused disturbances and resisted arrest after failing a breath alcohol test, requiring handcuffing.

Police Headquarters Ravensburg urges residents to be vigilant, particularly with offers involving cryptocurrencies and transfers to foreign accounts. The recent cases serve as a reminder that scammers can be convincing, and initial small gains should not be taken as a sign of legitimacy.
