Dance group HC Ensemble stages Spring exhibition
The Holy Cross Dance Ensemble's Spring Showcase, held on April 12, 2025, in the Luth Concert Hall, was a resounding success. The performance, which showcased the dedication and hard work of students in their extracurricular activities, left the audience in awe of the dancers and their efforts.
The show, which extended the repertoire from the previous year, featured 25 numbers and included various dance styles such as jazz, contemporary, Irish step, hip hop, ballet, musical theatre, tap, modern, and lyrical. The performance opened with a jazz number choreographed by senior Brianna Fountain, and concluded with a piece called 'You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home', choreographed by Co-Chairs Isabella Ruel '25 and Molly Hachey '26.
The Dance Ensemble, composed of students from all four grades, offered a sense of community beyond the stage, according to Meredith McDonough '26, a member of the Dance Ensemble. "Through events like the Spring Showcase, students can express their creativity and use their energy and talent for activities that enrich the campus community," she reflected.
Meredith also commented on the dedication and effort required to prepare for the show. "Seeing peers perform with such talent is inspiring and showcases the excellence that defines students at Holy Cross," she added.
The show's playlist included popular songs like 'New Romantics' by Taylor Swift, 'Beauty and a Beat' by Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj, 'The Winner Takes it All' by Meryl Streep, and 'Supercut' by Lorde. The performance served as a powerful reminder of the value of the arts on campus.
