Deloitte, in conjunction with Asia Institute for Sustainability, introduces the Certified Sustainability Officer Program in Malaysia.

The Asia Institute for Sustainability (AIS), in partnership with Deloitte, has launched a timely initiative – the Certified Sustainability Officer (CSO) Professional Training Program in Malaysia. This program is designed for current and aspiring sustainability professionals, providing them with the strategic and practical skills needed to lead Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainability transformations within organizations.

The CSO Program is globally aligned but regionally contextualized, addressing industry needs in Malaysia and the broader region. It covers topics such as ESG leadership, corporate sustainability strategy, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability reporting, delivered by experienced ESG practitioners and regional leaders.

This program aligns directly with Malaysia’s National Sustainability Reporting Framework and the country’s ambitious goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050. With a projected need for 10,000 sustainability professionals by 2030, the program aims to develop about 2,000 qualified professionals annually to support companies in planning, managing, and reporting sustainability initiatives in compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and global standards.

The CSO Program is a strategic educational response to Malaysia’s sustainability workforce demand, designed to align closely with national sustainability goals and reporting frameworks. It helps build capacity and expertise as the country moves towards its 2030 and 2050 environmental targets.

In addition, the CSO Program is HRD Corp claimable and eligible for the 2025 ESG tax deduction for Bursa-listed companies investing in sustainability capacity-building.
