Discussion Sessions at Your Establishment
The Indian Institute of Art Design is hosting a series of monthly webinars called Design Talks, providing students with valuable insights into industry trends, technological innovation, sustainability, ethics in fashion, and building a design sense.
These webinars feature experts from both the Indian and international design sphere. Notable speakers include Sonia Manchanda, a design strategist, graphic designer, and designpreneur with over 20 years of experience in the design industry. Sonia is also a founding partner at Spread Design + Learning.
Rohit K. Gulati, the founder of Incubis, one of India's leading architecture and design firms, was a regular speaker at Design Talks from November 2020 to March 2021. Rohit's extensive portfolio includes leading successful projects like 'Frugal innovation' for Ginger 'Smart' hotels and for multiple industries like Tata Housing, Essar Group, and GE Healthcare. He also helped design the iconic 100m long "Mudra" installation at the new T3 airport terminal in New Delhi.
Another notable speaker was Bidisha Sinha, a senior associate at Zaha Hadid Architects with over 20 years of experience as an architectural professional and designer. Bidisha was awarded the prestigious Stirling Prize for her contribution to Evelyn Grace Academy (2010) and received the RIBA London award for her work at the Science Museum in London.
The Design Talks also welcomed Sujata Biswas and Taniya Biswas, the founders of SUTA, a fashion design house producing ethnic designs with a contemporary twist. Despite not having a background in the textile industry, the two sisters started SUTA in 2016. SUTA employs more than 1400 weavers.
Nohar Nath, the founder and CEO of Kiabza, a re-commerce platform for pre-owned branded products, was also a speaker at Design Talks. Nohar Nath has 20+ years of experience in the Textile and Fashion Industry.
It's worth noting that Sujata Biswas is an alumna of IIFT Delhi, and Taniya completed her engineering from NIT Rourkela.
While there are no publicly available details about the designers who participated in the Design Talks at the Indian Institute of Art Design from April 2021 to the present, the series continues to provide a valuable platform for students to learn from industry experts and gain insights into the world of design.
