District of Saarlouis allocates €2.2 million for school renovation over summer break
In the heart of Saarlouis, a wave of transformation is sweeping through the district's schools. A substantial investment of approximately 2.2 million euros is being poured into renovation, rebuilding, and new construction projects at 23 school sites and two district sports halls during the summer holidays.
The renovation projects aim to improve learning conditions and modernize school sites throughout the district. Window renovations are on the agenda at several schools, including the ASG, and both parts of the Bisttalschule Wadgassen-Bous. Large-scale rebuilding projects are underway at the Commercial Vocational Training Center (KBBZ) Dillingen, with a focus on redesigning the schoolyard, and at the Waldschule Saarwellingen, where the emphasis is on redesigning the schoolyard and renewing electrical and media technology in the classrooms.
The School at the Roman Castle in Dillingen will receive a new elevator and barrier-free WC facilities. Meanwhile, the KBBZ Saarlouis has painting work and renovation of the heating distribution on its agenda. The Robert-Schuman-Gymnasium (RSG) Saarlouis, KBBZ Saarlouis, School at the Roman Castle in Dillingen, and the Karcherstraße site of the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium (ASG) Dillingen will each receive around 200,000 euros worth of improvements.
Exciting new additions include a new student learning center and an annex to the administrative building at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Schule Schwalbach. A new tribune seating system is being installed at the Dillingen district sports hall, benefiting both school and club sports in the long term.
One of the focuses this year is the renovation of the changing rooms at the Saarlouis district sports hall, costing around 300,000 euros. The modernized changing rooms and sanitary areas will benefit the Technical-Commercial and Social Care Vocational Training Center and numerous clubs that regularly use the hall.
All measures are planned to be completed in time for the start of school, ensuring a fresh, modern, and accessible learning environment for the new academic year.
Education and self-development are key aspects of the transformation in Saarlouis, with renovation projects targeting schools to provide enhanced learning conditions. For instance, the Bisttalschule Wadgassen-Bous and the ASG are undergoing window renovations, while the School at the Roman Castle in Dillingen is receiving a new elevator and barrier-free WC facilities for an inclusive education-and-self-development setting.
