Durham University Alumni Shine in Study UK Alumni Awards 2023

Durham University alumni have made a strong showing in the Study UK Alumni Awards 2023, with six finalists and two winners announced. The awards, celebrating the impact of a UK higher education, span four categories: Business and Innovation, Culture and Creativity, Science and Sustainability, and Social Action.

In the Business and Innovation category, Iynna Halilou, an early-stage tech investor, won and became a global finalist for the USA. She joins Philippe De Raet, a business executive, who is also a finalist in the same category. Meanwhile, Sakib Anim, an Associate Professor in Economics, represents Bangladesh as a finalist in the Science and Sustainability category.

Eithar Alangari, Vice President of Applied Programmes at Shaqra University, is a finalist in the Culture and Creativity category for Saudi Arabia. She is joined by Chris Boyd, a writer and filmmaker, who is a finalist in the same category for the USA. Sugandha Yadav, an advocate at the Supreme Court of India, has won in the Social Action category for India.

Ten Durham alumni were shortlisted for the awards, demonstrating the global impact of the university's alumni network. Winners and finalists benefit from increased PR and press opportunities, with their achievements celebrated internationally.
