Election Season at SGA: Examining the Various Candidates!
Holy Cross SGA Elections Foster Student Leadership and Community Engagement
The Student Government Association (SGA) elections at the College of the Holy Cross are an essential process that empowers students to shape their educational experience and contribute to campus governance and community life.
In the recent Spring 2021 elections, students from the classes of 2024, 2023, and 2022 had the opportunity to run for SGA positions, while first-year students could run for positions on the Class Council or Senate. The annual election cycle commenced on April 9, 2021, with the "Meet the Candidates" event taking place virtually last Friday, April 9, 2021.
The elections saw Helena Sabo elected as Speaker of the Senate, Sophia Fiordalice as Parliamentarian, and Sagar Patel as Sergeant-at-Arms. Voting for these positions took place from September 25th to 27th, 2022, and students could cast their votes on myHC, using their phones.
The SGA elections provide a platform for first-year students to shape their Holy Cross experience. In the Spring 2021 elections, candidates for SGA Class Senators, Senators-at-Large, Council, and Cabinet positions announced their candidacy. Upperclassmen were given the chance to fill positions left vacant during the Spring Election Cycle.
