European Union's Political Science Advancement Program Initiated by the European Commission
The Political Science Information Service Pollux, based at the State and University Library (SuUB) Bremen, has been funded again by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the period 2025-2028, receiving 1.9 million euros. This continuation of support is part of the DFG funding program "Fachinformationsdienste für die Wissenschaft."
Pollux, which operates in collaboration with the GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and the Research Data Center Qualiservice at the University of Bremen, aims to further develop and sustainably strengthen the information infrastructure for political science research in Germany.
The service, accessible at https://pollux-fid.de/, currently comprises over 13 million documents. The new funding will enable Pollux to expand its research portal, develop the analysis tool "PoliCorp", and focus on open science activities, research data management for qualitative political science data, optimizing internal work processes and quality assurance, and public relations.
Dr. Michael Czolkoß-Hettwer, the project coordinator for Pollux, can be contacted by phone at +49 421 218-59586 or via email at [email protected]. For more precise information, directly contacting Dr. Czolkoß-Hettwer or visiting the official Pollux website might provide detailed documentation about the funding phase's content and objectives.
The GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences' website is located at https://www.gesis.org, while the Research Data Center Qualiservice at the University of Bremen's website is located at https://www.qualiservice.org. The State and University Library Bremen's website is available at https://www.suub.uni-bremen.de.
The FID Political Science also aims to create possibilities for the reuse of qualitative political science data, such as expert interviews, for evidence-based policy advice. The Research Data Center Qualiservice at the University of Bremen joined as a third project partner in 2022.
Further information about the FID can be found at https://pollux-fid.de/. The focus areas of the fourth funding phase (2025-2028) have not been explicitly stated in the available search result, but the FID is committed to providing fast, subject-specific scientific information services to researchers in political science.
Online education and self-development opportunities will be expanded with the new funding of Pollux's research portal, facilitating online learning for political science researchers in Germany. The analysis tool "PoliCorp" will also be developed to aid researchers in their studies, fostering education-and-self-development in political science research.
