Examining Application of Directive Provisions Initiated by the Commission

In a significant stride towards modernising the administration of teacher hours, the Saxony-Anhalt State School Authority has partnered with Conceptboard to digitise the process of recording and billing additional hours worked by teachers. This move is set to enhance efficiency, transparency, and data sovereignty, making the billing and processing of extra teaching hours more streamlined and error-free.

The new system, a secure, GDPR-compliant digital collaboration platform, allows for intuitive and hybrid collaboration across all administrative levels. This digital approach replaces traditional paper-based or fragmented processes, improving workflow speed and clarity. By using this digital whiteboard platform, the authority can efficiently document, manage, and verify extra worked hours.

Education Minister Jan Riedel has expressed satisfaction with the progress made in processing the cases, and he has stated that the goal is to allow teachers to focus on their teaching and automate administrative tasks. As of the end of July 2025, nearly 100% of the cases have been processed and scheduled for payment.

Preparations are underway for a software-supported recording and billing of additional hours worked by teachers. Remaining cases, representing less than 1% of the total teaching staff in the state, are expected to be closed in the coming weeks. These cases involve 156 teachers from seven schools.

Minister Riedel has consistently invested in digitization and modern processes, according to his statements. The focus on digitization is a significant step towards modernising the administration of teacher hours in Saxony-Anhalt. The Ministry's efforts towards digitization are a part of a broader strategy to streamline processes and significantly reduce processing times, increasing transparency for all parties involved.

This achievement is considered an outstanding achievement by Minister Riedel and is a strong signal of appreciation for the teachers in the state. The Ministry of Education in Saxony-Anhalt plans to increase reliance on digital solutions for future processing procedures, setting a positive example for other federal states in the public sector's digitalization strategies.
