The Baden-Württemberg Foundation, established in 2001, is a renowned regional foundation in Germany that focuses on promoting research, innovation, culture, and social projects to advance the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The foundation, with its humble beginning of only ten employees, has grown significantly over the years, thanks to the interest from its capital that provides approximately 40 million euros annually for the promotion of projects. This capital, which was initially generated from the sale of EnBW shares to the French energy company EDF, amounting to 4.7 billion D-Marks, is carefully managed to ensure its sustainability.

Birgit Pfitzenmaier, who has been with the foundation since its inception, plays a pivotal role in the foundation's society and culture sector. She has been instrumental in initiating numerous projects under the BW Foundation, such as the raised beds in kindergartens that involve fathers with a migration background.

One of the significant projects under the BW Foundation is the Kinderland foundation, which was established after Günther Oettinger declared the campaign "Kinderland" in a government declaration. The Kinderland foundation, with around two million euros to spend annually, ensures that these projects are scientifically accompanied and evaluated.

Birgit Pfitzenmaier, a native of Stuttgart, has spent her entire career in various ministries before joining the BW Foundation. Her dedication to the foundation's mission is evident in her work, as she has been responsible for a wide range of projects, including anti-addiction programs, parent and family education, and anti-violence training.

As Birgit Pfitzenmaier prepares to retire next year, marking the end of her tenure at the BW Foundation, her contributions will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the foundation and the community it serves. The Baden-Württemberg Foundation, under her leadership, has become a beacon of innovation, progress, and social responsibility in Southwest Germany.

Results of the projects are published online for other communities and institutions to learn from, further solidifying the foundation's role as a catalyst for positive change in the region. The Baden-Württemberg Foundation, under the guidance of dedicated individuals like Birgit Pfitzenmaier, continues to shape the future of Baden-Württemberg through its commitment to research, innovation, culture, and social projects.
