Göttingen's 'Gö goes green' Wins €15,000 for Stormwater Innovation

Göttingen's innovative stormwater management project, 'Gö goes green', has received a 15,000 euro prize from the Lower Saxony Climate Protection and Energy Agency. The project aims to adapt to climate change and mitigate heavy rain events.

The project, co-financed by changes in the Lower Saxony Water Act via sewage charges, features a web-based stormwater hazard map. This map pinpoints potentially flooded areas in the city, helping residents stay informed and safe.

The city administration offers a free consulting and information service for property owners. This includes an individual property information and on-site consultations, primarily targeting them. The project has also been recognised for outstanding climate protection in the 'Climate Communal' competition.

Göttingen's award-winning 'Gö goes green' project demonstrates the city's commitment to climate adaptation. With a web-based stormwater hazard map and a free consulting service, the project aims to support property owners and residents in managing stormwater effectively. Feedback on the project can be sent to YourOpinion@ourwebsite. The city administration keeps residents updated via Telegram, Notify, and a digital guide called Verwalti.
