Honor Roll Announcement for April 2020 Academic Achievements
Edmonds Community College Honours Students Shine in Winter 2020
Edmonds Community College has announced its Winter 2020 Academic Excellence honours list, recognising the achievements of several students who have excelled in their Associate Degree and Undergraduate Certificate programmes.
The Honour Roll, Honor Roll with Distinction, and President's List are the three levels of recognition in the Academic Excellence programme. To qualify for these honours, students must have achieved a high GPA in college-level courses completed by the winter quarter prior to graduation.
Among the students who made the Winter 2020 Honor Roll list are Bethany Hemesath, Daniel Sampson, Dannielle James, Darryl Buning, Derek Nimrichter, Hannah Wessel, James Warren, Julie Satele, Kate Somes, Katherine Orizal, Kimberly Colas, Kylie Welsh, Michelle Buck, Sandra Baker, and Scott Miksich.
Hannah Wessel, Bethany Hemesath, and Kylie Welsh are not only on the Honor Roll but have also been named to the President's List for their respective AOS programmes in Graphic Design, Advertising Design, and Digital Photography. Additionally, Michelle Buck is on the President's List for the AOS in Advertising Design, and Kristy Nilsson is on the Honor Roll with Distinction for the UC in Graphic Design.
Bethany Robbins has also earned the Honor Roll with Distinction for the AOS in Graphic Design. To graduate with this honour, a student must have a GPA of 3.8 or higher in all college-level courses completed through Winter 2020, a distinction noted on the student's transcript and allowing the student to wear an honor cord at commencement.
In order to be on the President's List, students must have a GPA of 4.0 for the quarter, while those on the Honor Roll with Distinction must have a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Programmes like Phi Theta Kappa eligibility require an associate degree credit completion and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Dr. Meryl P. Epstein, Director of Education at the institution, congratulated the students on their achievements. The Academic Excellence program recognises students with the highest academic marks in Associate Degree and Undergraduate Certificate programmes. Students who earn these honours will receive an official letter of recognition and a resume honor.
It is important to note that these criteria can vary by institution, and specific grade point average cutoffs for honors are often based on the number of units completed and the particular policies of the academic program or institution. Some institutions may have separate Honors Programs with specific requirements such as completing Honors seminars and maintaining a 3.2 GPA in Honors courses for transcript recognition.
Since you asked about a program offering Associate Degrees and Undergraduate Certificates, Edmonds Community College’s policy seems closely aligned and relevant. For exact institutional requirements, including any adaptations for the Winter 2020 term during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is advisable to consult the specific Academic Excellence program or college registrar’s office and their winter 2020 academic honors policies. There were some adjustments to grading policies in 2020 (such as P/N options) that may have impacted honours eligibility at certain institutions.
Hannah Wessel and Kylie Welsh, both on the President's List for their AOS programs in Graphic Design and Digital Photography respectively, demonstrate their exceptional graphic design skills, which they honed through learning at Edmonds Community College. Meanwhile, Michelle Buck, also on the President's List for the AOS in Advertising Design, and Kristy Nilsson, on the Honor Roll with Distinction for the UC in Graphic Design, are contributing to their fields of education-and-self-development by expanding their knowledge in their chosen disciplines through continuous learning.
