Macklemore's home robbery suspect is reportedly in custody, according to police announcements.
In a significant development, police in Washington state have apprehended a man suspected of robbing Macklemore's home earlier this summer. The arrest was made last Thursday, with the help of a SWAT team, and the suspect is a 29-year-old with a history of convictions.
The break-in at Macklemore's house was noticed by the nanny of his children just after midnight on June 7. Two men snuck into the rapper's home through an unlocked door and stole high-end jewelry, including Macklemore's Sounders Championship ring, Seahawks Super Bowl ring, a diamond tennis bracelet, and other valuable items.
The arrest was not directly linked to the Macklemore robbery at first. It was made using a warrant for another robbery case out of Bellevue. However, investigators soon found that the arrest led them to Thien Phuoc Jewelry in South Seattle, where the police later arrested the store's owner for allegedly trafficking the stolen items.
Eric Munoz with the Seattle Police Department stated that this was a two-months-long and difficult investigation to crack. He also suggested that the suspect is connected to other high-profile robberies, with further information to be released in the coming days.
Detectives recovered Macklemore's stolen items during the raid on Thien Phuoc Jewelry. Each item is worth tens of thousands of dollars, according to Munoz. Police have also posted pictures of the stolen items online in hopes of identifying other robbery victims.
As of now, the suspect has not been officially charged for the latest robbery. Prosecutors may charge him as soon as Tuesday. The suspected man who is believed to have committed the burglary at Macklemore's house nearly two months ago and is also suspected by the police to be involved in other high-profile robberies has not been named in the provided search results.
