Google's system flags images for editorial review across common risk areas such as alteration, duplication, AI-generated images, and PubMed source plagiarism. The rollout aims to expand to all relevant submissions, reducing the need for post-publication corrections. MDPI will initially roll out Google's image analysis across selected biomedical titles.
MDPI's multi-year collaboration with Google is set to enhance the integrity and quality of scientific publications. The expanded use of Google's tool will help ensure the authenticity and reliability of images in scholarly articles.
