MIT and the Foundation partner to initiate the RIDE 2025 program, catering to the education of 7,500 students
The MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) has partnered with the Foundation to launch the Ignite Bootcamp: RIDE 2025. This immersive training program aims to empower and inspire students, with a focus on engineering, technology innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The bootcamp, part of MIT-WPU's flagship event RIDE 2025 (Research, Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurial Spirit), is designed to last for several days and will provide students with practical coding and project work. The objectives include inspiring students to pursue engineering and entrepreneurial careers, and equipping them with skills in R&D, coding, freelancing, and project pitching.
The program takes a crucial step towards creating impact beyond the classroom. It will culminate in the Start-up Expo 2025 (August 11-14), where the top 10 businesses selected will receive initial seed funding of INR 1,000,000 for prototype development. The top 150 businesses will present to industry leaders, investors, and the general public, while the top three finalists will pitch live for additional funding, incubation, prizes, and trophies.
Dr. Karad, CEO of MAEER's MIT and Executive President of MIT World Peace University, expressed excitement about helping students cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. He believes that the initiative is crucial for creating a pipeline of qualified innovators. The bootcamp is powered by the Foundation's Ignite program, which benefits over 150,000 students from over 1,000 institutions worldwide.
The goal is to create over 1,500 student-led businesses, and the program offers practical tutoring and assessment to groom the next generation of business leaders. Rajeev Warrier, Executive Vice President, Entrepreneurial Initiative, of the Foundation, stated that the partnership reflects the Foundation's commitment to providing students with real-world opportunities in entrepreneurship.
Dr. Karad stated that the initiative is not just about starting businesses, but about forming confident, creative, problem-solving individuals. The bootcamp likely includes activities such as problem-solving challenges, hands-on projects (for example, building real-life applications using large language models or machine learning), and interactive sessions where students pitch innovative startup ideas or social projects. These components drive the objective of nurturing creativity and entrepreneurial thinking critical to Indian entrepreneurship.
The bootcamp is significant for India, as it prioritizes entrepreneurship as a catalyst for economic development. By fostering a generation of skilled innovators and startup founders who understand emerging technologies and business models, the program strengthens the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.
