From the buzz of events like the local favorite, "Nice here!", to a vibrant mix of innovative ideas, the city is buzzing with activity. The city center committee has recently greenlit eight such projects, funded from two generous pots of money.
Bernd Hermes, the chairman of the city center committee, sees the sheer diversity of the projects as a testament to the city's creative potential. These projects span various domains, such as sustainability, music, art, and cultural participation, all breathing fresh life into Mülheim's city center and inviting you to get involved.
Diverse Projects Taking Root in Mülheim
One such project, spearheaded by the green-thinking group, Molly's Sustainable, aims to promote sustainable alternatives through seed and clothing exchange markets, workshops, and a mobile sewing station. In addition, informative signs about the importance of insect-friendly areas will be installed at the Uhlandstraße for the model garden to enlighten visitors.
Eva Kurowski, a talented jazz musician and singer, is offering an open, weekly choir for everyone, regardless of age or musical background. singing sessions happen in the city center under the guidance of professionals and accompanied by a piano. Music transcends boundaries in other projects as well, like the "Beats Workshop" that educates children and young people on the art of creating electronic music. The workshop kicks off in June.

"Beating the Drum featuring Meta Meat" is an interactive drum workshop that encourages cultural participation and will culminate in two concerts at the AZ. Admission is free on October 4. On the very same day, a music theater project led by multidisciplinary artist Isabel Wamig takes place at the Theater Eunoia, focusing on People of Color. The performance includes music, dance, and video, and will be followed by a discussion round.

An all-inclusive art piece will be created on the Pastor-Barnstein-Platz on September 4, under the watchful eye of the Art Obscura association. People with and without disabilities will come together to paint on three large canvases, guided by experienced artists. Children between eight and twelve years old can expect an exciting summer with art, culture, and city exploration through twenty engaging workshop phases and excursions starting in June at the Vier.Zentrale.
