Newly appointed youth leader at the Regensburg Regional Council
Johann Götz has assumed the leadership role at the Youth Office of the Regensburg District Administration, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the position.
After studying at the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Götz began his career at the Federal Employment Agency, where he spent over 17 years honing his skills in managing complex structures and leading large teams. His tenure at the Employment Agency spanned some of the most challenging periods, including the aftermath of the financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the refugee crisis.
Götz has expressed great gratitude for these challenges, stating that they have shown him the value of unity, commitment, and reliability. His experiences have prepared him well for his new role, where he will focus on child protection, prevention, early support, and family assistance.
District Administrator Tanja Schweiger has welcomed Götz to his new position, noting his qualifications for the role. These include his education, long-standing experience in leading larger organizations, social law experience, and political cooperation experience. Schweiger believes that Götz's expertise and dedication will be invaluable in addressing the challenges facing the Youth Office.
Götz has taken over the vacant position at the Youth Office, which has been vacant for some time. One of his key priorities will be aligning the expectations of employees, partners, and the public. He is prepared to listen respectfully, value the experiences of his new colleagues, and develop sustainable solutions step by step.
Closer cooperation with schools, free carriers, and other partners is deemed important by Götz. Limited financial resources present a significant challenge, with setting priorities, securing existing offers, and implementing legal reforms such as the Children and Youth Welfare Inclusion Act being key issues. Despite these challenges, Götz remains optimistic and committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children, young people, and families in the region.
For Götz, assuming leadership at the Youth Office is not just a professional challenge, but also a personal matter close to his heart. He has expressed a particular draw to taking responsibility for the children, young people, and families in the region. Götz served as the managing director for benefit payment in Munich and for placement and counseling in Regensburg at the Federal Employment Agency, experiences that have undoubtedly prepared him for his new role.
In his previous roles at the Federal Employment Agency, Götz held various specialist and leadership positions, including as head of the Controlling and Finance department in Nuremberg. His extensive knowledge and experience in managing complex structures and leading large teams will undoubtedly serve him well in his new role at the Youth Office.
