Nizhny Novgorod Welcomes Neimark: A New Hub for IT Education
Nizhny Novgorod is set to welcome a major educational initiative with the development of Neimark, an inter-university campus dedicated to training IT specialists. Spanning 226.4 thousand square meters, Neimark will unite 11 universities and their industrial partners, aiming to accommodate over 8,000 students from Russia and internationally. The first phase of construction, comprising 18 dormitory buildings, has been completed and will house more than 1,000 IT students this month.
Neimark is designed to transition universities to modern IT programs, with a focus on training data analysts and digital data protection specialists. The campus will feature educational buildings, dormitories, sports facilities, and a conference hall, providing a comprehensive learning environment. Researchers at Neimark are also working on innovative technologies for neuromorphic calculations, set to revolutionize domestic computing.
The project is a result of collaboration between multiple institutions, including HSE University and Sber. They signed a cooperation agreement in 2025 to implement the IT campus project in multiple stages, incorporating academic buildings, dormitories, and research hubs. Five network programs have been created for Neimark by Nizhny Novgorod universities and their industrial partners, encouraging a holistic approach to IT education.
Neimark's completion marks a significant milestone in Nizhny Novgorod's commitment to IT education and innovation. With the first phase now commissioned, over 1,000 students will begin their IT studies in modern facilities, setting the stage for the campus's full operation and its goal of accommodating over 8,000 students.
