Non-profit organizations THEYA Foundation and DigiFemmes equip 100 women in Côte d'Ivoire with free technical training in digital skills.
The Africa DigiEmpower program, a collaborative effort by THEYA Foundation, a foundation by Cybastion, and DigiFemmes Côte d'Ivoire, is making strides in digital skills development for young Africans, particularly women. This initiative aims to equip every woman with the tools to succeed in the digital world.
The training program covers a wide range of digital competencies, including digital literacy and basic IT skills, coding and programming, web development and design, cybersecurity awareness, mobile app development, digital marketing, and data analysis and management.
Fatima Kourouma, the Program Director at THEYA Foundation by Cybastion, spearheads this project. The latest training session, offered to 100 women from Abidjan's Anoumabo community, was free and provided practical use of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Canva, as well as awareness on combating misinformation.
The training program is part of Africa DigiEmpower's efforts to advance digital inclusion and empowerment through technology. It aims to strengthen the digital skills of the participants, improve their online sales, and boost digital empowerment specifically for women, supporting gender inclusion in ICT fields across Africa.
This collaboration between THEYA Foundation’s expertise in youth digital empowerment and DigiFemmes’ focus on women in technology helps bridge the digital gender gap and fosters skills relevant to the digital economy.
Africa DigiEmpower's mission is clear: to ensure that every woman has the tools to succeed in the digital world. As Fatima Kourouma stated, "Training women is an investment in the growth of the entire community."
This training session is just the beginning for Africa DigiEmpower's tech training initiatives, which will continue to expand under the provision of THEYA Foundation.
1) The Africa DigiEmpower program, led by Fatima Kourouma at THEYA Foundation, is dedicated to security and cybersecurity education, as it incorporates awareness on combating misinformation and cybersecurity in its training sessions.
2) Acknowledging the need for digital skills development, Africa DigiEmpower's training program encompasses various subjects like coding, web development, cybersecurity, and digital marketing, facilitating technological advancement among African women.
3) As part of a larger mission for empowerment through technology, Africa DigiEmpower's training program promotes personal growth and learning by offering sessions on digital marketing, data analysis, and mobile app development, all of which contribute to education-and-self-development.
