The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) have announced updates to the Class 11 Physics syllabus for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. The changes reflect a focus on improving conceptual clarity and problem-solving skills, aligning with the modified NCERT framework introduced in recent years, including adaptations due to the pandemic learning scenario.

For Class 11 Physics, the syllabus is divided into two parts: Physics Part I and Physics Part II. Each part consists of seven chapters, with solutions provided in both Hindi and English. However, it is important to note that the solutions for the chapters in the NCERT textbook for Class 11 Physics (Part II) are not attached to this article.

In Physics Part I, the chapter "Units and Measurement" has undergone significant changes, with the deletion of "Measurement of Length", "Measurement of Mass", "Measurement of Time", "Accuracy, Precision of Instruments and Errors in Measurement". Similarly, the chapter "Motion in a Straight Line" no longer includes the chapter "Position, Path Length, and Displacement".

The chapter "Motion in a Plane" has seen the removal of "Relative Velocity in Two Dimensions" and "Relativistic Velocity". Additionally, the chapter "Laws of Motion" has been revised, with the deletion of "Law of Inertia", "Law of Motion in a Straight Line", and "Law of Motion in a Plane". The chapter "System of Particles and Rotational Motion" has also been modified, with the removal of "Rolling Without Slipping" and "Moment of Inertia".

In Physics Part II, the chapter "Mechanical Properties of Solids" no longer includes "Elastic Behaviour of Solids" and "Determination of Young’s Modulus of the Material of a Wire". Similarly, the chapter "Thermal Properties of Matter" no longer includes "Greenhouse Effect".

The new NCERT textbook for Class 11 Physics (Part II) includes chapters on Mechanical Properties of Solids, Mechanical Properties of Fluids, Thermal Properties of Matter, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory, Oscillations, and Waves.

It is essential to consult the latest official CBSE/NCERT syllabus or your school for any minor updates or specific examination guidelines. The direct PDF links for each chapter of the NCERT textbook for Class 11 Physics (Part I) are provided in the article, but the direct PDF links for the chapters in the NCERT textbook for Class 11 Physics (Part II) are not available.

For the convenience of students, the solutions for the chapters in both NCERT textbooks for Class 11 Physics are available in Hindi and English. It is advisable to refer to these solutions to enhance understanding and prepare effectively for examinations.

These changes aim to provide a foundational understanding of basic physics concepts, with an emphasis on fundamental principles like measurement, vectors, kinematics, laws of motion, and thermodynamics, among others. The updated syllabus covers 15 key chapters, including Physical World, Units and Measurement, Motion in a Straight Line, Motion in a Plane, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, System of Particles and Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Mechanical Properties of Solids, Mechanical Properties of Fluids, Thermal Properties of Matter, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory, Oscillations, and Waves.
