American Hiking Society Offers Exciting Internship Opportunity
The American Hiking Society, a renowned nonprofit dedicated to hiking and trail service, is seeking a dedicated individual for a Development Intern position this Fall (September - December, 2025). This remote role promises a unique opportunity to gain insights into the world of nonprofit development and fundraising, while making a tangible impact on the preservation of hiking trails nationwide.

As a Development Intern, you will have the chance to work closely with professionals in the nonprofit sector, as well as connections with professionals in the corporate and philanthropic sectors. You will develop a comfort level in funding discussions, solicitations, and negotiations, and gain hands-on experience in various fundraising strategies and engagement techniques.
The internship offers a non-negotiable salary starting at $20/hr, with arrangements possible for course credit or work/study. Flexible work hours are available Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EST, as agreed upon with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships.
The American Hiking Society's mission is "Empowering ALL to enjoy, share, and preserve the hiking experience." This mission is embodied in their grassroots and grasstops advocacy and volunteer programming, which includes week-long trips such as Alternative Break (for students) and Volunteer Vacations (all ages).
