Over 9,000 graduates in Kazakhstan were declared "Altyn B образовательная премия" victors.
Breaking Records with the "Altyn Belgi" 🌟
This academic year has seen a whopper of a surge in students securing the prestigious "Altyn Belgi" distinction, as reported by "Sputnik Kazakhstan".
According to the Ministry of Education, a staggering 9,738 graduates snagged the coveted "Altyn belgi" this year, shattering previous records. In 2019, only 7,349 students managed to earn the distinction, and in 2020, the number climbed to 8,615.
The regions boasting the most "Altyn belgi" recipients this year are:
- Turkestan (1,856);
- Almaty (1,432);
- East Kazakhstan region (738).
The lucky recipients received their certificates at a quintessential presentation ceremony.
"A whopping 9,738 candidates excelled in their final exams and bagged the 'Altyn belgi' sign. This accounts for 6.2% of the total number of graduates. The number of students keeps growing every year, and so does the number of students displaying top-notch achievements," explained Maira Meldiyeva, Chairperson of the Committee for Preschool and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education.
This year, Kazakhstan rolled out a new strategy: the academic works of "Altyn belgi" candidates are now examined by commissions at education departments instead of schools. The list of academic excellence recipients is only finalized after the commission's deliberation.
It's well-known that the "Altyn Belgi" distinction in Kazakhstan is an elite academic honor reserved for high-achieving students, although the specific eligibility criteria aren't publicly disclosed. However, information from Zhibanov Aktobe Regional University suggests that students must score at least 105 points on the Unified National Testing (UNT) to qualify, although even this score doesn't guarantee a state educational grant.
