In the heart of Kazakhstan, Astana is leading the way in vocational training and skill development with the launch of the "100 Profiling Classes" project. This initiative, aimed at supporting professional education across various sectors, has been underway since January 2025.

The project, involving 7 universities, 21 colleges, and 70 schools in the city, offers tailored training for specific professions to meet modern economic demands. With a focus on Service, Design, Sewing Production, Railway Transport, IT, Pedagogical, and Medicine, learners acquire practical skills that match industry requirements in Kazakhstan.

For instance, students in the specialized profiling classes for sewing production, railway transport, or IT gain hands-on experience and knowledge aligned with their chosen career paths. The pedagogical and medical profiling classes aim to strengthen the educational and healthcare sectors by preparing qualified professionals.

The project bridges the gap between academic knowledge and labor market needs, supporting Kazakhstan’s broader goals of economic diversification and modernization. It emphasizes adaptable, skills-based learning models to equip individuals for employment in key sectors.

By February 1, 2025, thematic plans for the specialized classes have been developed by colleges and agreed upon with schools. Children of different ages, starting from 13, participate in the clubs, and classes are held twice a week for two academic hours according to the schedule. The training is in the format of "Guest Lectures" and is conducted by teachers from the International University "Astana" and the Eurasian Humanities Institute named after A.K. Kusainov.

Schools No. 65, 71, and 96 have been allocated hours from the Palace of Schools named after M. Uteimov and the Palace of Schools named after Al-Farabi for opening additional clubs. Schools No. 23 and No. 83 can conduct "Sewing" and "Cooking" clubs on their own bases. In total, the coverage of profiling classes is 2892 students, including 121 students in Railway Transport classes.

Monitoring and methodological assistance are provided through visits to classes, student surveys, and seminars. Early career guidance in the "Pedagogical Class" profile is a targeted professional-educational orientation and the formation of a stable interest in pedagogical activity. Social partners of the colleges are involved in the work of the specialized classes. Each direction of specialized classes has a responsible person - a methodologist from the methodological center of Astana.

The "100 Profiling Classes" project in Astana is a significant step towards preparing the workforce for the future, ensuring that learners are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

1) The 100 Profiling Classes project, taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan, is not just about education-and-self-development and personal-growth, but also about providing learners with practical, industry-aligned skills for specific professions, such as Service, Design, Sewing Production, Railway Transport, IT, Pedagogical, and Medicine.

2) The initiative's focus on adaptable, skills-based learning models, with a strong emphasis on meeting modern economic demands, underlines its goal of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and labor market needs, thereby supporting Kazakhstan’s broader goals of economic diversification and modernization, and preparing individuals for employment in key sectors, fostering their personal-growth and contributing to their overall education-and-self-development.
