In a display of innovation and creativity, Russian schoolchildren once again made their mark at the International Youth Inventors Exhibition (IEYI), which took place in Osaka, Japan from August 6 to 8, 2025. The event, which showcases inventions and innovations created by young inventors from around the world, attracted participants from 13 countries.

Russia presented 10 projects at the IEYI, and their efforts were rewarded with a total of 8 medals. The projects that stood out included a coffee-making robot and a device for targeted plant spraying, which received special prizes for original ideas. Two other projects, an autonomous peat mining system and a device for contactless shoe cleaning, won silver medals.

The Russian success at the IEYI was made possible with the help of representatives from the Central University, the Alliance in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). The Russian jury member for the IEYI was Yuri Kuznetsov.

The projects were evaluated by an international jury based on over 12 criteria, including creativity, functionality, application of physical laws, market demand, patentability, and environmental impact. The criteria also included factors such as teamwork and presentation skills.

It is worth noting that Russian schoolchildren have been consistently achieving high results at the IEYI since 2017. In fact, they also won a total of 8 medals at the International Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) for high school students, held in China from August 2 to 8, 2025.

The IEYI is a testament to the innovative spirit of young inventors worldwide. With the 2026 edition of the event set to take place in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, we can expect more groundbreaking ideas and innovations from the next generation of inventors.
