Russia's New Law Boosts Mentor Allowances Nationwide
A new law in Russia, Federal Law No. 381-FZ, has amended the Labor Code to provide guarantees and allowances for mentors. This comes into effect from March 1, 2025, and is part of the annual All-Russian action of trade unions, 'For Decent Work!', held every October 7. The law establishes allowances for mentorship at 15% of the salary for medical workers and 10% for other state institution workers.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) has updated its recommendations to include these allowances in industry-specific provisions. The Republican Tripartite Commission on the Regulation of Social and Labor Relations has decided to support this initiative and recommend mentoring regulations in various agreements. This move aims to recognize the integral role of mentorship in the adaptation and professional growth of young specialists in Russia.
In recognition of their significant contributions, experienced mentors have been awarded Certificates of Appreciation and commemorative gifts. The 2025 action's slogan, 'For Decent Work of Mentors!', emphasizes the importance of valuing and rewarding mentors for their dedication.
The new law allows regions and employers to establish additional payments for mentorship. The Yakutia Federation of Trade Unions will continue advocating for securing mentor guarantees in industry agreements and collective bargaining agreements, ensuring that mentors receive the recognition and support they deserve.
