In a turn of events, the senior prank at the Eugen-Bolz-Gymnasium in Rottenburg has led to a clean-up effort rather than a celebration. The prank, involving spray-painting the school building and facades, has resulted in permanent damage that couldn't be removed, as the paint had dried.

The students, who initiated the prank, are now taking responsibility for their actions. They are working under the motto: "We messed up, now we're making it right." The total cost of the cleanup is estimated to be 7,000 euros, a significant portion of which will be paid from the class fund and donations collected at the prom, according to student representative Heege.

The clean-up process is being aided by a professional painter and his employee, who are using tape, brushes, and paint rollers to remove the graffiti. The city has also donated five buckets of paint for the cleanup. The process is expected to last until Wednesday.

Principal Andreas Greis believes the spray-painting was an accident. Initially, he was shocked by the incident, as were the school leadership and the janitor. However, he commends the students for their efforts to rectify the situation. He hopes that future classes won't have the same idea.

Heege, the student representative, believes that the class bond has become stronger due to the cleanup effort. Principal Greis shares this sentiment, expressing his hope that the experience will serve as a lesson for the students.

It's important to note that such acts of vandalism can lead to serious consequences, including criminal charges for vandalism, school disciplinary actions, and possibly civil liability for damages. Schools classify vandalism as a serious offense, with consequences matching the severity and age appropriateness. This can include suspension, expulsion, and other interventions.

A good agreement was reached with the city and the school's sponsor regarding the cleanup. However, the GoFundMe fundraiser for the cleanup, started by student representative Heege, has been taken down.

The students are covering the cost of the clean-up themselves, as the painter only charged for his labor, not for travel or assessment. This senior prank has indeed been a learning experience for all involved, serving as a reminder of the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions and the potential consequences of such actions.

Despite the initial uproar caused by the senior prank at the Eugen-Bolz-Gymnasium, the young students are demonstrating a commitment to education-and-self-development and general news literacy by taking responsibility for their actions and working towards rectifying the situation. As a result of their efforts, they are learning valuable lessons about accountability and the potential repercussions of careless actions.
