Transforming Agriculture with Technology and Dedication: Kanuj Kachhawaha's Journey from Cloud Architect to Crop Cultivator

In a bold move, IT expert Kanuj Kachhawaha has set his sights on transforming India's farming sector. With over 17 years of experience in cloud technology, he is now embarking on a new journey, blending technology with agriculture to usher in a new era.

## Technological Interventions in Agriculture

Kanuj's vision encompasses the integration of automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) in agriculture. He envisions these technologies streamlining labor-intensive tasks such as irrigation and crop monitoring, making farming more efficient for large landholdings.

Affordability and accessibility are also key concerns for Kanuj. He advocates for community-driven models like cooperative digital platforms or shared infrastructure for machinery and marketing, ensuring that technological solutions are within reach for all farmers, not just the large-scale ones.

Kanuj is also passionate about improving market access and fair pricing for farmers. He believes that digital platforms can connect farmers directly with markets, ensuring a Minimum Support Price (MSP), and reducing intermediaries to boost farmers' profitability.

## Impact on Indian Farming

Kanuj's approach could bring about several positive changes in Indian farming. By automating tasks, farmers can focus on other aspects of farming, potentially increasing overall productivity and efficiency. Improved market access through digital platforms can reduce reliance on intermediaries and ensure fair prices for produce.

Moreover, integrating technology with sustainable practices can make farming more environmentally friendly, attracting more youth to the sector. Initiatives like the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan are already empowering farmers with scientific knowledge and skills, aligning with Kanuj's vision of modernising agriculture.

Kanuj Kachhawaha, a seasoned IT architect, is now preparing for a personal and professional transformation from IT to agriculture. Despite having no agricultural background, he draws inspiration from notable figures in Indian agriculture such as Dr. Raja Ram Tripathi and Mr. Akash Chaurasia.

Currently, Kanuj is in the exploration phase, focusing on learning from people in the agricultural sector. He has registered for the Global Farmer Business Network (GFBN), a dynamic platform that connects farmers, policy makers, scientists, agri-startups, and industrial stakeholders. Through GFBN sessions, he seeks to understand real-world farming practices, challenges, and possibilities.

Kanuj is based in Sri Ganganagar, a fertile district in northern Rajasthan. Despite not yet owning a plot of land or farming tools, he carries the spirit of innovation, humility to learn, and the desire to make agriculture sustainable, smart, and scalable. His concern for market access and fair pricing for farmers is evident in his dedication to this new path.
