Uttarakhand Board of Secondary Education (UBSE) has unveiled the Science Syllabus for Class 10 in the academic year 2025-26. Students preparing for the board exams can now download the free PDF version conveniently.
In the upcoming academic year, the Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has revised the Class 10 Science syllabus, covering a wide array of fundamental topics in five major units. Here's a brief overview of each unit.
Unit I: Chemical Substances - Nature and Behaviour
This unit delves into the world of chemical reactions, focusing on chemical equations, balanced chemical equations, and their implications. Students will explore various types of reactions, such as combination, decomposition, displacement, double displacement, precipitation, endothermic and exothermic reactions, oxidation, and reduction.
The unit also covers the basics of acids, bases, and salts, including the properties, examples, and uses of common substances. Students will learn about the pH scale and the preparation and uses of various chemicals like sodium hydroxide, bleaching powder, baking soda, washing soda, and plaster of Paris.
Metals and non-metals, carbon and its compounds, and the properties of ionic compounds are other key topics in this unit.
Unit II: World of Living
This unit focuses on life processes, control and coordination in animals and plants, reproduction, heredity, and evolution. The topics covered will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of life at the cellular and organismal levels.
Unit III: Effects of Current
In this unit, students will learn about electric current and circuits, as well as the magnetic effects of current and electromagnetism. The functioning of a lens in the human eye, defects of vision, their corrections, and applications of spherical mirrors and lenses are also covered in this unit.
Unit IV: Natural Phenomena
Unit IV focuses on the study of reflection and refraction of light, as well as the human eye and the colourful world we live in. The unit will help students understand the laws of refraction and refractive index.
Unit V: Natural Resources
The final unit, Natural Resources, covers the conservation of natural resources and the environment. Students will learn about the importance of preserving our planet's resources and the solutions to environmental problems such as ozone depletion and waste production.
Unit VI: Miscellaneous Topics
In addition to the above units, students will also study topics such as series and parallel combinations of resistors, their applications in daily life, and the heating effect of electric current. The interrelation between electric power, voltage, current, and resistance will also be addressed.
For a more detailed and official syllabus of Units II to V for 2025-26, students are advised to download the official UBSE syllabus PDF from the UBSE website or trusted educational portals as per the release date. The above additional units' topics follow broadly the UBSE and NCERT pattern for Class 10 Science and are inferred from general syllabus outlines referenced in the school curriculum.
In the revised Class 10 Science syllabus for the upcoming academic year by Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE), students will delve into education-and-self-development on online-education platforms, focusing on learning various units, including the World of Living (Unit II). For instance, in Unit II, students will study the control and coordination in animals and plants, reproduction, heredity, and evolution, which falls under the domain of science.
Additionally, students are expected to explore the miscellaneous topics, including series and parallel combinations of resistors, their applications, and the heating effect of electric current, which can be deemed as part of online-education on science and learning fundamental electric concepts.
