The application process for the prestigious Berufswahl-SIEGEL Saxony-Anhalt has commenced for the 20th time and the 2025/2026 school year. This initiative, a collaboration between the economic and social partners of the state, aims to recognise schools that excel in career orientation.

Schools from secondary levels I and II in the districts of Harz, Börde, Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, and the state capital Magdeburg have been invited to participate in the initial certification. However, the specific schools that have been invited for the 2026 re-certification have not been explicitly listed in the available search results.

The application region for the Berufswahl-SIEGEL changes annually. Schools that demonstrate exceptional preparation of students for career choice and entry into the workforce are awarded the Berufswahl-SIEGEL. These schools benefit from various further training and networking formats through the state and federal Siegel network.

The deadline for applications is set for November 27, 2025. To assist schools in the application process, an application workshop will take place on October 28, 2025, in Magdeburg. The workshop will provide a platform for professional exchange with experts from the labor and training market.

Education Minister Jan Riedel and Labor Minister Petra Grimm-Benne have emphasised the importance of the Berufswahl-SIEGEL. Minister Riedel stated, "The Berufswahl-SIEGEL recognises schools that manage career orientation in an exemplary manner." Minister Grimm-Benne encourages schools to participate, stating that early career orientation secures skilled workers.

Since its introduction in the 2006/2007 school year, 73 schools have been awarded the Berufswahl-SIEGEL in Saxony-Anhalt. The certification process offers schools the opportunity to defend their Siegel in the re-certification process, a challenge faced by several schools.
