In the heart of Worcester, Massachusetts, Makaylah Kelso '28 is making her mark at Holy Cross. As a staff writer for the college and an active member in various clubs, Makaylah is a driving force in the Class of 2028.
Originally from Meadville, Pennsylvania, Makaylah has found a new home on the Holy Cross campus. Her favourite spot? The pool tables in Hogan. When she's not there, you might find her at "The Burger Bah" in the Worcester Public Market, her go-to off-campus restaurant.
Makaylah's academic pursuits are as diverse as her interests. She is majoring in both Economics and Political Science, a combination that reflects her keen intellect and curiosity. Her favourite class so far has been Comparative Religions/Worldview, a testament to her open-mindedness and desire to understand different perspectives.
When it comes to post-graduation plans, Makaylah is set on venturing into the worlds of finance and real estate. However, specific details about her career path are not currently available.
Outside of academics, Makaylah is deeply involved in several campus organisations. She is a member of the Finance Club, WIB Planning Committee, ASL Club, and HC Launch. One item on her Holy Cross bucket list is to plan a road-trip, a testament to her adventurous spirit.
Makaylah's favourite song is "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King, a timeless tune that resonates with her. When it comes to books, "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley tops her list. Her favourite movie is "Back to the Future", a classic that never fails to entertain.
Makaylah's days start with reading through emails and end with a glance at her Google calendar for the next day. In between, she finds joy in small things like calls from her sisters and biking through Ernst Trail when she's home.
Her favourite colour is sky blue, and her favourite Kimball meal is General Tso's Chicken. When it comes to guilty pleasures, Makaylah admits to spending time looking for homes on Zillow.
Makaylah's words to live by are Robert Frost's famous lines, "I took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." This sentiment is reflected in her decisions and actions, making her a unique and valued member of the Holy Cross community.
