Workshop titled "75 Years of Kamp-Lintfort - I Feel at Home Here," focusing on the 75-year history of Kamp-Lintfort.
In the picturesque town of Kamp-Lintfort, the fourth-grade writing competition concluded with a grand ceremony on June 27, 2025, at the Schirrhof. A total of 300 children from local elementary schools submitted their stories on time, showcasing their creativity and dedication.
The theme of this year's competition was the transformation of Kamp-Lintfort from a mining town to a modern university town. The children were given insights into the city's rich history during an interactive session with Mayor Prof. Dr. Christoph Landscheidt and Deputy Mayor Dr. Christoph Müllmann earlier in the year.
Christine Buyken, a representative from the LesART association, expressed her admiration for the effort the children put into their stories. She noted that the jury found it challenging to choose the winners due to the creative and diverse stories submitted. In the end, 24 stories were selected for publication, with Mayleen Breuer's story, "Ancient Oak Tree at the Kloster Kamp," taking the top prize.
Mayleen's story takes the reader on an exciting and mysterious time journey through Kamp-Lintfort, while Amar Besic's "Kamp-Lintfort - Its Foundation and Development" earned him third place. Leonhard Krause received the second-place award for his story titled "Time Travel to the Past."
The award ceremony was well-attended by many children, members of the association, and representatives of the jury. The Cultural Office and Stadtwerke Kamp-Lintfort supported the competition, and thanks to Stadtwerke Kamp-Lintfort, all participating children will receive the book with the best stories in their schools.
To celebrate the success of the competition, ice cream was served to everyone, and free copies of the book could be picked up at the media library while supplies last. The children also had the opportunity to interactively experience the commitment of various cultural, sports, and traditional associations at theme tables.
The preliminary jury reviewed all the texts and made a preselection, with the main jury meeting on April 11, 2025, to select the winners. This year's competition was particularly special as three young female winners of the previous writing competition were included in the selection for the first time.
An online version of the brochure for the competition can be downloaded at [www.swkl.de](http://www.swkl.de). The children were encouraged to continue exploring their creative talents and looking forward to next year's competition.
